The EKA measures the surface charge of textiles and coarse particles (>100 microns to 10 mm) as well as flat surfaces (at least a 2.5x4.5 cm rectangle) exposed to a dilute aqueous salt solution. It can acquire surface charge vs. pH in an automatic titration.Latest Status Log EntryDec 23, 2020 - Resource Status Down - Down for holidays

Streaming potential measurements can be used to determine the zeta potential of larger, non-colloidal particles and flat surfaces. The Paar Physica Electro Kinetic Analyzer measures the voltage drop across a flat plate or particle bed over which the conductive aqueous solvent is forced under pressure. The zeta potential of the surface is calculated based on the ratio of the solvent pressure to streaming potential, times the conductivity of the solution (Fairbrothers-Mastin equation) as the solvent flows across the sample material.
